Jay maintains his leadership and respect and increasingly becomes the focus of the horse’s attention. No longer wishing to drive the horse away, he becomes a comfort zone for the horse – a place that she wants to be. Once the filly knows that it is more comfortable to stay than it is to go, Jay is well on his way to forming the all important connection. With the horse now more relaxed, Jay then demonstrates how to approach the horse for the first time, how to touch for the first time, how to take the pressure off the horse, and ultimately, approach the horse without it leaving.

The journey begins with Jay outside the round pen and with an unbroken 3-year-old filly inside. Jay explains how the round pen is the ideal venue to communicate, show leadership and form a connection with your horse. Jay demonstrates when and how to first enter the round pen. Then, as Jay starts to establish himself as the “dominant horse of the herd”, he begins the steps to cause and control movement. Using a combination of verbal cues and body movement, Jay continues working with the horse to reinforce the movement, change the filly’s direction, and control her speed.

Beautiful Arabian Horse at Liberty

This is my beautiful Arabian horse running through the pasture at liberty. Like most Arab horses, he is not only pretty and spirited, but also very loving and smart. He is 22 this year and just gets better every year !

OK- I received lots of inquiries about the previous song on this video. People didn’t know the song or band, but they heard it here first and liked it! But, no more, because WMG doesn’t like the idea of viral marketing for their clients. The video was perfectly timed to the track and this one doesn’t work as well unfortunately… yet, the band Evanesence is amazing- I love ALL their stuff!! So enjoy!

On May 19 2007 I experienced an unexpected and serious injury that resulted in a severed left front deep digital flexor tendon. I have an amazing story that is informational, inspirational and unforgettable. The extent of my injuries were so much that it was suggested that I be put down.
