My entire barn burned down the day I brought my paint weanling home. In the confusion afterwards, replacing everything, dealing with insurance company, moving etc, I never did get him registered. When I finally got around to doing it, the cost was $500! Is there ever any amnesty for horses that went past the reasonably priced registration time frames?

I believe right now they are offering discounts if you register your paint. You can register your horse for $100 right now thru a registration incentive drive.

  1. I don’t think so, registries are pretty money-grubbing. You could always try to ask, good luck!

  2. Usually registration prices simply go by the horses age, sex and registration type. I’ve never talked to anyone that got any leniency on the matter. On the better side… registering your horse doesn’t mean much to people outside of the quarter horse show circuit. I have event horses and know for a fact that many good expensive horses were never registered, but simply do their job well. I’m not telling you to not get it registered, just saying that a piece of paper wont make or break your horse unless you want to take it to Congress.
