Were there horses in the Western Hemisphere during the time of Jesus?

I know that horses used to populate the Western Hemisphere, but I’m not sure when. There was a time period when they died out and then afterwards horses were brought back to the Americas via the Spanish Conquistadors. So, were horses there during Jesus’ time, or did they die out far sooner than that?
The last prehistoric North American horses died out between 13,000 and 11,000 years ago, at the end of the Pleistocene, but by then Equus had spread to Asia, Europe, and Africa. Then as you say, they were reintroduced by the Spaniards.
who the hell cares?

No, there were not. As near as we can tell from paleontological finds, the modern horse did not exist in the Americas. The Native America populations spread throughout the hemisphere and managed to develop three great civilizations (Mayan, Aztec, Inca), all without the benefit of horses. (Among other things, this makes their exploits hunting buffalo all the more daring: they did it on foot.)
The Conquistadors re-introduced the horse to the Americas by losing some in various expeditions. Gradually, many of the plains tribes began to domesticate these animals, and they became some of the most notable horsemen of their time.
However, there are no fossil or other records of modern horses in the Americas before the arrival of the Spaniards, so that there were no horses here during the time of Christ.

That is a strange question. What is the connection between the man from Nazareth and horses in the Western Hemisphere?
But remember that the Western Hemisphere does no start in mid-Atlantic. There were no doubt horses in Britain, Ireland, Western France, and Spain.

The died out (= hunted & eaten to extinction) long before.
Just one question: what has Jesus got to do with that? Apart from letting it happen?
