It was written by Jesse James and he did eventually lay vocals down for it but as the story I always heard was Jesse didn’t make the session for whatever reason and the backing musicians who later became known as MFSB in the 70’s recorded the track as an instrumental and intended it to just be the “B” side of course as we know rock & roll history it became the “A” side. You can hear Jesse’s version on YouTube. Odd to hear it after all these years as an instrumental
