What are the major horse sale websites?

admin on March 19th, 2010

I know about Equine Now, Horse Clicks, Dream horse, and Craigslist. Any more you use?

I frequent …………..

Equine Now
Horse Clicks
Dream Horse
Craigslist
Equine
Equine Hits
Horsetopia
Horseville
Horse Finder
Warmbloods-for-sale
Ag Direct

Pretty much any other horse search site is a waste of time, IMO. They have basically no horses.

I also hit up sites like Friends of Ferdinand, Thoroughbred Adoption Network, Canter USA, and I used to look at New Vocations but they told me I’m too young to apply there. (Hmph!)

Most breed association websites, discipline-oriented websites, local club’s websites, etc. will also have a horse classifieds section.

Type in "horses for sale in ______" (insert the name of your city/state) and you’ll probably find several other places.

  3. Try selectahorse.com. It is just starting up but they have really cool stuff on their site and ut is extremely easy to use. You could also try equine.com. It has a great pool of horses.

  7. honestly, I have one simply answer for you, I have purchased both my horses from Craigslist.com
It’s just a site for people to post things they have for sale. I live in twin cities, MN and there’s adds posted for horses daily. Just type in gelding or mare and tons of adds should come up. They usually have photos and prices and e-mail addresses/phone numbers. I have purchased both my horses from this site, and another good way is just put up an add saying "Looking for (gelding/mare) for $(price here)" and say what you’d like in the horse and you’ll get plenty of responses with pictures and people who may have the perfect horse for you within your price range. I got a perfect OTTB for $500 by using that method and we had many offers. It really is awesome, for the big horse sites aren’t updated very often whereas craigslist lets people come to you with offers and you can see when they posted the add. I’m addicted to it. lol.
