No Petfinder please. I am looking to ride this horse as well. Oh, and it needs to be in Sonoma County, CA. Horses for sale and adoption.
Sorry, I ride Western and I am looking for a good all around horse. I want to go into barrel racing or reining, but right now I’m just looking. I want to look around a lot before I decide on anything.

I have found horses on equinenow.com, craigslist also lists horses for sale and you can pick an area close to you.

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you benefit from raising horses on a farm if not for breeding or offering trail riding?
Cows, pigs, sheep, etc, I know those are for meat, milk, wool, but horses?

There are a number of benefits for raising horses – they can be ridden or trained and sold for riding, they can be used to "work" cattle or for other working jobs.

Additionally, there are other products that horses are used for. For example, pregnant mare urine (as gross as it sounds), is one of the predominant sources of insulin to treat diabetes.

I can’t find what it’s called through a Google search so I hope someone can help me. What is the thing called that horses are attached to so that when people ride them, the horses can only walk in a circle?
Thanks. Hot walker was what I was looking for.

hot walker?
lunge line?

Just wondering as mine some times go mad around the field if they hear other horses on the road or a hunt passes nearby. Should I leave getting it done until their rugs are off? I don’t live beside the field. Also does anybody know why it’s bad for them to sweat after the jab?

I’m with pink on this one and MY vet still doesnt want the horses sweating even with modern vaccines.

I am planning on taking my horses to the Geraldton 2009 Muster and was wondering if i can just put the in the boot. Will i need to chop off their legs and stitch them back on when i get there? Has anyone done this before?

Hell It Is Just A Guess But I Would Think That If You Cut The Just Right, You Might Be Able To Get Two Of Them In There. Of Course Your Aware That They Will Not Be Able To Run That Or Any Other Race After This Trip Right? If You Do Plan On "Running What You Brung" You Might Want To Consider An Alternate Method Of Transport For Those Horses, I Am Thinking Maybe One Of These New And Improved horse Trailers Listed Below.
Good Luck At The Geraldton 2009 Muster.

How do you stop a dog from chasing horses?

admin on December 26th, 2009

My brother-in-law and his dog live on the same property as me. She barks and chases my horses and bites their legs. We have already had the vet out to take care of a bite wound she caused and now we have another horse injured because of her. My brother-in-law will not do anything to stop her behavior. We live on a farm. He doesn’t believe in tying dogs up or putting them in a kennel. She is the worst when someone pulls in the yard in a vehicle or if she thinks the horses are getting too close to the fence. Any suggestions for me?

Well since it is your brother-in-law, you live on the same property I am assuming that you have already talked to him so maybe you should just fix it so the dog will not get into the pasture. One of our dogs likes to chase the horses (never bit them but annoying) so we ran electric fence almost at ground level, and then between each of the fence rails (wood fence). I assure you that once a dog gets zapped once or twice they will give up on the idea of getting in the pasture and chasing the horses. Keeps the coyotes out too and isn’t very expensive to do (we use the fence chargers that work on D batteries so no electric to run).

I was thinking about it and wondered. How many would you consider until it’s an actual breeding farm?

And I don’t mean like a backyard breeding place, but a fancy one with horses with nice bloodlines.

Ex. 4 Stallions and 10 Mares

I don’t have a clue that’s why I asked. Thanks!

Just purchased my AQHA gelding who is my Congress hopeful and I consider the breeders to have an excellent program…she has 3 mares….breeds to top performance stallions..So In my book its not size that matters its their vision and breeding program and what they produce…quality

How many horses would you like to see at a barn where you would take lessons?

*If you would give the minimum you would work with, then the preferred number, that would be great!

Just curious.

I think it depends. We have about 15 lesson horses and they range in difficulty from the littlest rider to the most advanced. I think they need enough that you can keep moving up as you need to.

I would think at a minimum there should be at least 6 horses for a lesson program, but that would make for a very small lesson program.

Now if you are talking all horses at a barn including the lesson horses, it depends on how many trainers, instructors etc. the barn has.

I have two horses and two goats. How do I keep my goats from eating my horses tails? Without haveing to seperate my goats from the horses.

Grandma put tobasco sauce on things so the goats would leave it alone.. try it and see.
