Hi, I am from Australia. I have been thinking about doing a horses massage course and becoming a qualified massge therapist for animals (mainly horses). I am expereinced with horses and alnimals of all kind but cannot find out how to get into a course like this or find workshops anywhere. Any infomation on this would be greatly appreciated.
My best suggestion is not to even try to get "certified" as an equine massage therapist, UNLESS where you live requires some kind of certification. And if that is the case, then the department issuing the license should be able to tell you how and where you can get certified. You would be better off getting a license as a human massage therapist and then including animals in your practice. I have attended several of the so called "equine massage" schools here in the US and they are nothing but a rip off.

hi, i have only ever ridden hunter jumper and western pleasure. I would like to ride english with my 3 year old, but because of her epiphysitis, it is likely that she will never be able to be a jumper. she is a quarter horse, almost 16 hands. but what other qualities should i be looking for to decide if she could do dressage?
she also has a nice sloping shoulder, long legs, and powerful hindquarters
You want a horse that is FORWARD. Dressage is being able to direct the horses natural energy and help him become a better, balanced athlete. Dressage is very frustrating or almost impossible if the horse is not in front of your leg. You need to be able to send them forward easily, not have to nag them with squeezes, kicks, use of whip, etc. As far as horse conformation, an uphill build is best. A horse that is naturally on the forehand is doing to have a much harder time with collection.
on the catalogue for horse sale it says HB in some of the horses ad’s..
what does it mean?
How is it used in an ad? Could you give me an example?
Thanks,
Rita
EDIT: is it Horseback? Hay Barn? Horse Barn? Hollow Back? IDK My BFF Rose!!
I want to know if it is possible to have my paint horse registered with the apha without records.?
I have two obvious paints, I am told that they are quarter type paints, but don’t have any records of their parents. I want to know if it is possible to register them since they have obvious paint markings. I was told I could but I don’t know for sure and I would like to know how, if it is possible.
No. A breeder’s certificate (proof of parantage) must be submitted when applying for registration for any horse, regardless of color. You can see the APHA requirements here: http://www.apha.com/breed/regguides.html
You might be able to register your horse with one or both of the Pinto associations.
The National Pinto Horse Registry will accept grade (non-pedigreed) horses:
"GRADE: A Horse or Pony with Pinto Coloring for which there is no proof that Sire or Dam is Pinto Colored, or Owner cannot or does not wish to prove Pinto Coloring ancestry at time of first registry." http://www.pintohorseregistry.com/RulesProcedures.html
The Pinto Horse Association of America will only register mares and geldings if there is no proof of pedigree, or mares, geldings and stallions if miniature horses or ponies of undetermined pedigree.

My horse is trained english and i currently use a French link snaffle on him. I recently decided that he should also be a western horse lol. I’m extremely comfortable western and I can train him myself, but I’m not sure what bit to use. I planned on starting him in a loose ring snaffle. Where should I go from there? I probably only need something mild.
I was thinking I would switch him to a curb but I don’t know too much about the ports and shanks and stuff.
I would start him on a hackamore at first and on and off switch to a curb bit. The hackamore gives me more control and to my opinion much easier on the horse as he spends less time mouthing the new bit and more time paying attention to what I want him to do. First a few days with one and then switch to the other until he has the idea…I always do this and use the hack as a transition bridle….I like the bitless because of what I said less time mouthing the bit more time paying attention…Good luck hope this helped you some….

MODERN SHIRES THAT CAN MOVE
Due to financial issues I have to sell my 6 year old arabian mare, and I’ve been trying to sell her for awhile. I’ve put her on almost every horse classifieds site known to man, and still no one wants her. :[ I need to get rid of her asap! Any ideas?
Advertise on http://www.liverystable.net and include a lot of description, good photos, and a reasonable price. In your description say "motivated seller, will consider all offers" so people know you really need to sell.
horses aren’t bringing a lot unless there’s training/show experience that makes them valuable. The market is down, I’m hoping it’ll start to come up as the weather turns better, but the slaughter issue has really hurt it.
I hope you find a buyer. If not, try to lease her to a riding stable or send her to a rescue. I think you have to consider all options, and make sure you are asking a reasonable price for her. Good luck!
I have a horse that i need to sell, and i was wondering what the best way to advertise her would be? Thank you!
I’ve tried the internet and you have to sort through a LOT of tire kickers! Typically I sell my horses (When I HAVE to sell one!), to folks in my area who know the horses.
Dreamhorse.com, Craig’slist.com (In YOUR area) and local free horseadd papers.
Make sure your horses are turned out properly when you show them to perspective buyers and be upfront about any quirks or soundness issues. Lastly, price the horse accordingly, remember the horse maybe worth a million bucks to YOU, but a buyer probably won’t look at him/her that way and will want to make the best deal they can.
What is known about the horse who played Bucephalus in Alexander the Great movie?
I think the horse was a Freisian (sp?), and I think I saw the same horse in Eragon ridden by Jeremy Irons.
You can tell I love horses when I’d rather watch them than Matt Damon. To me my little bay Witez Arab is the epitome of all movie horses, my dream, my friend, my love.
not sure where you could find info about the 2 horses but after seeing this question today and being massively bored i watched both movies and I’m not sure that they are the one and the same horse. The one on Alexander seems a bit bigger boned to me, though I could be wrong. I’ll do some digging and see if I can’t find out:) and you’re right they are both fresians
this link talks directly about the horse used in alexander
